Jill Elswick writes news articles, executive bylines, survey findings, and white papers for national clients in the employee benefits industry. Her clients include trade magazines, consulting firms, business groups, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies. She is a frequent contributor to Valley Business FRONT, the business magazine of Roanoke, Va. Jill is researching news stories related to women’s health, female entrepreneurship, the “glass ceiling,” the maturation of Gen X in the workplace, and the recruiting and staffing industry.
Jill is an experienced conference programmer. She made content decisions, wrote marketing materials, and recruited speakers for events hosted by Economist Conferences and SourceMedia Inc. Events Jill has worked on include Benefits Forum & Expo, the Employee Benefit Adviser Summit, and Card Forum.
Jill lends her talents to many local organizations and events, including the Roanoke Regional Writers Conference, The Heart of Roanoke, and The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge.
Jill is studying media psychology through Walden University with an expected graduation date of Fall 2012. She reports that the program is demanding and that she is avoiding writing a psychology paper right now.
Jill is also a new barista at Starbucks. She enjoys pretending to be a 20-something while working there. She can outflirt all her co-workers, except maybe Debbie. Her favorite SBUX drink is a breve latte, but she’s recently been experimenting with the Earl Grey breve latte. Mmmm. So good. And you can really smell the lavender. Jill finds it amusing when customers order a “Red Eye” or “Black Eye” or a “Blue Eye.” Jill has an idea for a drink called a Geek. She’s planning to order a Tall Geek to see how long it will take her co-workers to figure out what’s in it.
